The digital competence level of private college teachers is crucial for driving the digit-al transformation of the entire education system,yet its components and model construction have rarely been explored in the academia.Using a mixed research method based on grounded theory,this study constructs an initial model framework for the digital competence of private college teach-ers through behavioral event interviews and the coding and analysis of interview texts.The model was further validated and revised through factor analysis,fit tests and weight analysis of survey data from 553 frontline teachers,resulting in a theoretical model comprising 29 characteristic indicators across five categories,including Technological Integration and Intelligent Application,Digital Teaching Competency,Digital Social Responsibility,Digital Professional Development and Personal Traits of Teachers.Additionally,application recommendations are also provided for the model in three aspects:normativity of digital teaching,digital training,and teaching evaluation in private col-leges.
