National Strategy and Organizational Change:Exploring the Rise of Interdisciplinary Research Institutes in Top Chinese Universities
In the early 21st century,the interdisciplinary research institutions,especially the entity research institutions,of China's first-class universities have emerged rapidly,a-mong which the national strategy is the most critical institutional environment.It can be ob-served that national institutional directives have positioned the establishment of interdiscipli-nary research institutions as a crucial reform path for top universities to meet legitimacy re-quirements.While this reform orientation enhances legitimacy for top universities,it also in-troduces efficiency challenges within them.Further reform is necessary to promote these in-terdisciplinary research institution clusters,thereby enhancing their leadership role in na-tional scientific and technological innovation.
