Insights from Delft University of Technology's Urban Design Workshop Model for Urban Design Education in China
The urban design workshop group teaching model implemented by the Delft University of Tech-nology in the Netherlands presents an innovative approach to urban design education in China.It emphasizes the enhancement of interdisciplinary thinking and problem-solving skills among students through project-based learning,focusing on developing competencies in evaluation,simulation,negotiation,decision-making,and con-flict management.This model shifts the role of educators towards being facilitators and enablers,fostering inno-vation and bolstering teamwork and communication.In light of the current urban design educational landscape in China,it is recommended to fortify the cultivation of comprehensive abilities,ensure a deep integration of theoretical instruction with practical design work,and establish a balanced curriculum evaluation frame-work.The localization of this teaching model is poised to significantly propel the advancement and innovation of urban design education in China.
