Categorical Characteristics of Mobile Phone Dependence Among Higher Vocational College Students and Its Impact on Mental Health—Based on Latent Profile Analysis
A whole group sampling method was adopted to select 950 college students from a higher voca-tional college, and the Mobile Phone Dependence Inventory(MP AI)and the Symptom Check List-90(SCL-90)were administered at the same time, and independent samples t-tests and correlation analyses were con-ducted to analyse the results of the data, exploring potential categories of mobile phone dependence among higher education college students using latent profile analysis and analysing the impact of the latent profile of mobile phone dependence on college students'mental health using the BCH method. It was found that girls had higher levels of mobile phone dependence than boys.Mobile phone dependence was statistically correlated with the SCL-90 and its 9 factors.Mobile phone dependence among college students in higher education institutions was divided into two potential categories:moderate use(90%)and dependence(10%).The mental health of the dependent higher education student population is worse compared to the moderate-use type. The results of the study are consistent with the 1-PACE modeling assumptions that mobile phone dependence is strongly asso-ciated with symptoms related to psychological and psychopathological conditions. The results of the study show that there is significant group heterogeneity in mobile phone dependence among college students in higher vo-cational colleges and universities, and there are differences in mental health levels among different types,so that targeted prevention and intervention measures can be carried out in the future according to the characteris-tics of the typology of this population.
