A Study on the Residency Model of Teacher Training at the New Graduate Schools of Education in the United States—A Case Study of the Alder Graduate School of Education
Taking the Alder Graduate School of Education in the United States as an example, this paper analyzes the Residency Model of Teacher Training at the New Graduate Schools of Education, and finds that the program is a master's degree granting program implemented independently of universities, aiming to cultivate basic education teachers with a sense of democracy and fairness and multicultural responsiveness through a one-year residency. Its teacher training model is characterized by fairness, collaboration, progressiveness and practicality. However, there are also some problems:the limited scope of teaching certificate certification, the lack of universal significance of customized training of teachers, and the lack of learning of educational theo-ries.China can learn from the experience of the United States to open up the teacher education system and in-novate teacher training programs, alleviate the dilemma of emphasizing academics over practice in teacher edu-cation,use targeted training rural teachers to adjust the supply and demand structure of teachers.
