In recent years,Guangdong Reclamation has vigorously developed the southern medicinal herb industry,with a planting area reaching 100,000 mu(approximately 6,667 hectares),resulting in a significant increase in the demand for southern medicinal herb resources.However,due to the lack of effective protection measures and excessive harvesting and logging,some wild southern medicinal herb resources have been severely damaged and are gradually diminishing.To better protect these resources and support industry development,our team established the Guangdong Reclamation Southern Medicinal Herb Germplasm Resource Nursery at the new base of the Guangdong Reclamation Tropical Agriculture Research Institute.The nursery focuses on cultivating medicinal herbs,introducing and domesticating them,recording and organizing relevant data,establishing a database,formulating germplasm resource and field management systems,and ensuring proper field management.Additionally,we conduct popular science education to raise awareness of southern medicinal herb germplasm resources.
