摘要
卜凯所主持的中国农村经济调查和研究,在同时代同类成果中处于较高水平.基于美国的社会背景、教育背景和学科背景,卜凯具有浓厚的美国立场、意识和视角,其调查研究中国农村经济的方法直接来源于现代西方经济学尤其是美国的农业经济学、农场管理学.在此思想指导下,卜凯以欧美的优越感对中国与美国的农家经营进行了详细比较,得出中国农家经济落后的结论,并提出了一系列改良中国农业的建议.不过,卜凯对中国传统农业经济也并非完全予以否定,而是认为有其合理之处,这一合理部分应该继续延续.尽管其调查研究曾受到国内一些学者的批评,但也不能不说,中国学者也基本接受了西方农业经济学的方法,他们一道为中国农村经济学的本土化作出了贡献.
Abstract
The surveys and studies on China's rural economy conducted by John Lossing Buck are at a relatively high level among similar achievements of his contemporaries.Based on the social,educational and aca-demic background in the United States,Buck had a strong American stance,consciousness and perspec-tive.His methods of surveying and studying China's rural economy were directly derived from modern Western economics,especially American agricultural economics and farm management.Under this ideo-logical guidance,Buck conducted a detailed comparison of rural management between China and the Unit-ed States with a sense of Euro-American superiority,concluding that China's rural economy was lagging behind and putting forward a series of proposals to improve Chinese agriculture.However,Buck did not completely negate the traditional Chinese agricultural economy,but believed that there were rational as-pects to it,which should be continued.Although his research has been criticised by some scholars in Chi-na,it cannot be denied that Chinese scholars have also largely embraced the methods of Western agricul-tural economics,and together they have contributed to the localisation of rural economics in China.
