Currently,BIM technology has been effectively utilized in various aspects of building construction,including design,construc-tion,operation,and maintenance.However,its application in railway engineering remains limited.To address the challenges of low efficien-cy,lack of accuracy,and difficulties in change management associated with traditional cost estimation methods in railway projects,an explo-ration was conducted using the construction of a High-Speed Railway Station in Xiamen as a foundation.This exploration aimed to integrate BIM technology with the railway engineering cost estimation system and establish an independent rate model for enterprises.As a result,a BIM-based cost estimation system was implemented in this project.Practical experience has shown that a BIM-based cost estimation system offers several advantages over traditional methods,including improved efficiency,enhanced accuracy,visual representation,data sharing and collaboration,change management,and comprehensive project management.These advantages contribute to better cost control and manage-ment effectiveness,ultimately improving the overall outcomes of the projects.
