"歌传一体"与缘起艳诗的"传奇":从元稹《莺莺传》原题说起

据史料记载,元稹创作的《莺莺传》,其原题为《传奇》."传奇"之"奇",是"奇辞"之意.这一概念出自《文心雕龙》,原指艳诗."传奇"之"传",当读作"zhuàn",是指儒家注释典籍的一种体例.元稹之所以创作《莺莺传》,是希望通过传注以《会真诗》为首的"奇辞"本事,实现以艳诗"干教化"的目的.《莺莺传》具有的"歌传一体"形式,源于儒家典籍特别是《左传》的"经""传"一体.除借鉴《左传》"经""传"一体的形式,元稹还袭用其"微而显""志而晦"的笔法,在叙写"奇辞"本事中贬斥"情义",宣扬"礼义".在元稹的意识中,"传奇"并非小说,而是近于诗的一种文体.因此,成为文类总名的"传奇",其具有如诗一般丰富的内涵,故后世以之指称小说、戏剧等多种文学体裁.
Abstract
According to historical records,the original title of Yuan Zhen's Yingying Zhuan was Chuanqi.The term"Qi"in Chuanqi refers to singular diction.This concept comes from Wen Xin Diao Long and originally refers to romantic poem.The term"Chuan"in Chuanqi should be pronounced as"zhuàn",originally referring to an approach of annotation of Confucian classics.The motivation behind Yuan Zhen's creation of Yingying Zhuan was actually to annotate the original story of the singular diction led by Huizhen Poem,to achieve the goal of moral cultivation.Also,Yingying Zhuan has a form of integration of poetry and its original story,which originates from the Confucian classics,especially Zuo Zhuan.Drawing inspiration from the form of integration of Confucian classic and its annotation in Zuo Zhuan,Yuan Zhen also adopted his writing method of"tiny yet obvious"and"mark yet obscure",criticizing romantic love and promoting propriety and righteousness.In Yuan Zhen's consciousness,Chuanqi is not fiction,but a style close to poetry.Therefore,as a general name of literary category,Chuanqi has rich connotations like poetry,which is the reason it is later used to refer to various literary genres such as novel and drama.
