文言小说篇末评应如何界定,至今尚无明晰通行的标准.梳理史传论赞的衍变与定型过程,厘清文言小说篇末议论与史传论赞的分野,辨明文言小说类型及篇末议论特性,是设立具备针对性和可行性标准的基础.就文言小说篇末议论的特性而论,作者自评与他评界限较为模糊、地位趋于平等,不宜以作者身份作为界定标准;篇末议论的呈现形式处在动态调整中,整理者可以增删内容或更改格式,可见其可变性和受关注度;与史传论赞相比,篇末附论的文言小说占比小,篇末议论与正文协同性弱,独立性更为突出.有鉴于此,可统一将有文字或格式标识的文言小说篇末议论界定为篇末评,进而探究文言小说篇末评与白话小说回末评的关联.
Abstract
How to define end-of-piece commentaries in Xiaoshuo(小说)written in Classical Chinese(Wenyan 文 言)has not yet been clearly standardized.Understanding the evolution and standardization of historical biographical commentaries,distinguishing between end-of-piece commentaries in Xiaoshuo written in Classical Chinese and those in historical biographies,and identifying the internal types of Xiaoshuo written in classical Chinese and their respective characteristics of end-of-piece commentaries are the foundations for establishing targeted and feasible criteria.The end-of-piece commentaries have distinct characteristics:first,the boundary between the author's commentaries and commentaries by others is vague and their status tends to be equal,making it inappropriate to use the author's identity as a defining criterion;second,their presentation is in a state of dynamic adjustment,with editors able to add or remove content or change formats,highlighting their variability and importance;third,compared to historical biographical commentaries,Xiaoshuo written in Classical Chinese with end-of-piece commentaries are less common,and the synergy between these commentaries and the main text is weak,with a more pronounced independence.Therefore,it is suggested to define end-of-piece commentaries in Xiaoshuo written in Classical Chinese that have textual or formatting identifiers as end-of-piece commentaries,and to explore the relationship between end-of-piece commentaries in Xiaoshuo written in Classical Chinese and those at the end of chapters in vernacular novels.
