In the 1960s,driven by the need for urban and park modernization in Hangzhou, the Yuquan Yuyue scenic area transformed into a park. The project, situated on an existing historical site, integrated traditional gardening techniques with modern spatial manipulation methods, innovative materials, and craftsmanship.Taking the Yuquan renovation project as a case study and based on the review of the project construction background and field survey data, this study analyzes the reorganization of spatial sequences, the reconstruction of visitor paths, and the reexamination of the relationship between architecture and nature using classical gardens as a methodology.Furthermore, through a comparative analysis of gardening(garden design)cases from different eras, this paper demonstrates the modernity and innovation embodied in the spatial manipulation and construction language of the Yuquan renovation project within its specific historical context.
