Low-maintenance Native Shrubs and Herbs Screening and Evaluation:Taking Futian Mangrove Ecological Park in Shenzhen as an Example
In order to identify low-maintenance native shrubs and herbs with optimal performance,56 species of native shrubs and herbs adapted to the Shenzhen area were selected as research materials, and an experiment of native plant community creation was carried out in Futian Mangrove Ecological Park, where a total of 10 plant communities were planted according to the site conditions and the design objectives, and monitoring was carried out for a period of 2 years after the completion of planting. At the same time, through the hierarchical analysis method,an evaluation model including three criterion layers of ecological adaptability,low-maintenance,and ornamental properties,as well as eight indicator factors, was constructed to evaluate the selected native plants comprehensively. The low-maintenance management approach proved effective for all ten native plant communities,as evidenced by their robust growth and favourable evaluation outcomes.Notable performers included Dianella tasmanica'Variegata',Rhodomyrtus tomentosa,Cheniella corymbosa,Ardisia crenata, and Alpinia zerumbet'Variegata'are recommended for priority use in Shenzhen's greening projects.
