Role of Allobaculum stercoricanis in mice with intestinal ischemia-reperfusion injury
Objective To investigate the effects of Allobaculum stercoricanis on intestinal and extra-intestinal or-gan injuries following intestinal ischemia-reperfusion(I/R)in mice. Methods Eighteen SPF-grade C57/BL6J mice were randomly divided into the sham-operated group(Sham group),intestinal ischemia-reperfusion injury group(I/R group),and Allobaculum stercoricanis gavage treatment group(A.S+I/R group),with six mice in each group.I/R mod-els were established in the I/R group and A.S+I/R group. The study assessed histological changes in the small intestine, liver, and lung tissues;inflammatory markers[interleuhine(IL)-1β,IL-6,tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)]in intestinal tissues and serum;intestinal barrier markers(occludin,ZO-1);gut permeability;serum ALT and AST lev-els;and lung wet-to-dry weight ratio. Results Allobaculum stercoricanis gavage alleviated pathological changes in the small intestine, liver, and lungs caused by intestinal I/R injury, significantly reducing small intestine pathology scores(P<0.001),inflammatory cytokine mRNA levels in intestinal tissues(P<0.05),and systemic cytokine levels in serum(P<0.05).It improved intestinal barrier integrity(P<0.05),reduced ALT and AST levels, and lowered the lung wet-to-dry weight ratio(P<0.05).Conclusion Allobaculum stercoricanis treatment mitigates intestinal and extra-intestinal organ injuries(liver and lung)following intestinal ischemia-reperfusion injury, offering a new avenue for the prevention and treatment of I/R injuries.
