On Architectural Heritage Conservation:The Timber-Structured Construction Protection and Restoration
Architectural heritage of the main types of cultural heritages is categorized by different criteria,of which the most common way is to divide them into the integrated and the single by function. The techniques applied to the preservation and restoration to the historical buildings depends on the feature, value as well as the underlying dangers individually.A historical building as an immovable cultural heritage is made of various materials that make it distinguished from the movable one in the composition of elements of value. So,it is required to preserve the location, function and feature of a historical building in original status, which represents the architecture in design, material, structure and craftsmanship, and the techniques and crafts passing down in some cultural and regional contexts. The means usually applied to maintaining the wood components of the historical architectures fail to perfectly meet the demands from authenticity, such as new-for-old replacement,like-for-like replacement, external bracing, internal reinforcement. So it is a long-time mission to work hard for the ideal strategies that will contribute to conservation and restoration of the wooden parts of architectural heritages.
