On Macao as a Gateway in Early Transnational Tea Trade and Tea Culture Communication
Tea trade once played a major part in the history of Chinese commodity exports.Take the case of Macao,a small area,but it has reached a prominent position in the Chinese tea entrepot trade and business during the 16th-19th century.This thesis demonstratsd Macao as a gateway of transnational tea trade in the 16th-18th century based on the Chinese tea culture recorded by the western missionaries to Macao,the kinds of exported tea and the inter-nation trade disputes issued in Macao's early publications,the Macao-related tea diplomacy incidents as well as the documented tea seeds,tea farmers and tea planting technology spreading overseas from Macao.It is true that Macao contributed greatly to the Maritime Tea-Road growing flourished and the tea culture going all over the world.
