The Re-Patterned Mountain-and-Water Scenery Considered from the Evolution and Continuity of Mount Yuquan Landscape Construction through Dynasties
Mount Yuquan,lingering north-south in the West Mountains system in the suburb of Beijing,known as the scenic resorts for its unique features of landform and scenery since ancient times,got continuously planned,gardened and constructed through dynasties,with animals farms and water conservancy systems made with the local rocks.It was growing a combination of suburban retreat,water sources and the imperial residency,laying the foundation of its typical landscape pattern and architectural system.The'continuity'of Mount Yuquan Landscape construction even went on to the Qing dynasty'impacting the construction of'Jingming Garden'in internal spatial layout and arrangement in group which plays as a miniature of the re-patterned case of the similar gardens over the West Mountains.This thesis focuses on the landscape pattern of the Yuquan Mountain prior to the Qing Dynasty by visualizing the previous dynasties'constructions,'seeing large from small'to overview the long-time-span course through renovation and continuity which eventually make the landscape scenery in the context of complex geographical and humanity elements.The evolution history of the same types of gardens over the West Mountains is unveiled by the case study.
