Based on the genome data of Apocynum pictum, this study identified 53 members of the NAC gene family in A.pictum.Comprehensive predictive analyses were conducted to examine their chromosomal distribution, phylogenetic relationships, gene and protein structures, physicochemical properties, functions, and cis-acting ele-ments.Additionally,transcriptome data were analyzed to assess NAC gene expression under drought stress. The re-sults revealed that the ApNAC gene family of Apocynum pictum was distributed on 10 chromosomes, including 7 pairs of collinearity genes formed from segmental duplications and 2 pairs of tandem duplicated genes. The 53 mem-bers of the ApNAC family were classified into 15 subfamilies, each member containing more than 5 conserved mo-tifs,with similar gene structures within the same subfamily. The NAC proteins of Apocynum pictum were hydrophilic protein, with subcellular localization results indicating their functional role as transcription factors, enriched in DNA-specific binding functions as well as regulating development in xylem, leaves, and cell walls.Analysis of cis-acting elements in the promoter region revealed the association of the ApNAC gene family with regulation of abscisic acid, drought stress, and light responses.Under drought stress induced by 30%PEG-6000,26 members of ApNAC exhibited differential expression across various stages, with 21 members upregulated and 5 downregulated.
