Groundwater quality evaluation is a prerequisite for groundwater environmental protection, governance, and rational development and utilization of groundwater resources. The groundwater resources in the urban area of Tai'an are relatively abundant, and it is an important water supply source in Tai'an.In order to accurately reflect the current situation of groundwater environmental quality,119 sets of groundwater samples were collected and analyzed systematically. The groundwater quality was evaluated by the improved Nemero comprehensive index evaluation method combined with the worst index discrimination method. The evaluation indicators included 15 general chemical indicators,6 inorganic toxicological indicators,5 toxic heavy metals, and 26 organic indicators. The results show that the quality of groundwater in the study area is relatively poor, with 68.07%of the total samples being suitable for direct use as a drinking water source or being treated appropriately as a drinking water source, and 31.93%of the total samples being unsuitable for use as a drinking water source. The comprehensive quality of groundwater is bedrock fissure water>karst water>pore water. The comprehensive quality of groundwater is jointly influenced by the natural geological environment background and human activities, with a contribution rate of 54.36%from human activities. The indicators mostly influencing the water quality are the total hardness and nitrate, with the impact rates of Class Ⅲ indicators being 74.39%and 59.76%,respectively.The classification combination evaluation method considers the differences between general chemical indicators and toxicological indicators, and solves the problems of the traditional Nemero index method's excessively concentrated evaluation results, low probability of Class Ⅲ water occurrence, and pessimistic evaluation results of the worst indicator discrimination method,it is an effective comprehensive evaluation method for regional groundwater quality.
