Based on the field and pot experiments in a large moving water proof canopy, correlation and regression analysis methods were used to study the lowest suitable soil moisture limit in 5 growth periods of millet. The polynomial fitting method was applied to form the dynamic index curve of the lowest limit of soil moisture. The results showed that the lowest limit of soil moisture in millet growth period showed a single peak change. The lowest suitable soil moisture limit indexes and soil layers were 60%of field capacity in 0~20cm soil layer between sowing and emergence stage. The water requirement from seedling emergence to jointing was lower, and the lowest limit of soil moisture was 55%of field capacity in 0~30cm soil layer. The water sensitive period was from jointing to heading, and the lowest limit of soil moisture was 65%of field capacity in 0~50cm soil layer. The maximum water requirement period was from heading to grain filling for millet, and the lowest limit of soil moisture was 75%of field capacity in 0~50cm soil layer.Water requirement decreased from grain filling to maturity, and the lowest limit of soil moisture was 65%of field capacity in 0~50cm soil layer.Based on development process and accumulated temperature principle, the dynamic equation of soil moisture were determined, and the related indexes were 0.9706 and 0.9302.This method can be applied in millet water-saving irrigation forecast.
