Influence of nature engagement motivation on eudaimonic well-being:A case study of tourists in national forest park
Based on self-determination theory(SDT),this paper introduces nature engagement motivation(autonomous motivation, controlled motivation, and amotivation)into research of the tourists'eudaimonic well-being,and builds a theoretical model to reveal how nature engagement motivation influences tourists'eudaimonic well-being through the mediating effect of authenticity.Field data were collected through questionnaire survey in Shanghai Sheshan National Forest Park and Shanghai Gongqing National Forest Park to test the model and hypothesis. The results show that:three autonomous motivations(intrinsic motivation-for knowledge;intrinsic motivation-for stimulation;integrated-identified regulation)and introjected regulation of controlled motivation positively influence eudaimonic well-being through the mediating effect of authenticity. At the same time,integrated-identified regulation positively impacts the eudaimonic well-being,while introjected regulation negatively impact the eudaimonic well-being.External regulation and amotivation have no significant effect on authenticity and eudaimonic well-being.The mediating role of authenticity in the relationship between natural engagement motivation and eudaimonic well-being is partially supported.
