Spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of the industrial heritage along the Taiyuan-Baijiazhuang Railway and analysis of the suitability construction of heritage corridors
The Taiyuan-Baijiazhuang Railway is an important railway servicing industrial transport in Taiyuan, which considerably impacts regional industrial development.Based on the theory of heritage corridors, and with a focus on the industrial heritage resources along the Taiyuan-Baijiazhuang Railway, based on the GIS spatial analysis platform, taking 31 industrial heritage sites along the Taiyuan-Baijiazhuang railway as research objects,we visualize and analyze their spatial and temporal distribution characteristics, and introduce suitability analysis to simulate the potential corridors based on resistance and weight values of the natural environment, traffic conditions, heritage features and service facilities in Taiyuan City, and discuss the strategy for protecting industrial heritage based on heritage corridors. It is found that:1)The construction of industrial heritage along the Taiyuan-Baijiazhuang Railway was concentrated in the early period of socialist industry(1950-1963),and their industry categories were mostly belong to transportation, warehousing, and postal services.2)The spatial distribution of the industrial heritage along the Taiyuan-Baijiazhuang Railway shows aggregation characteristics, mainly in the southwest of Xinghualing District, the northeast of Wanbailin District, and the Xishan area of Wanbailin District. In terms of direction distribution,it shows a northeast-southwest distribution pattern, and its evolution is affected by the industrial construction policies in each period.3)The zones that are appropriate for the construction of heritage corridors show the distribution pattern of"three cores and one area",the"three cores"are the southwest core area of Xinghualing District, the northeast core area of Wanbailin District, and the core area of Xishan of Wanbailin District, and the"one area"is the Fenhe River Valley Plain area.Based on this, conservation strategies aimed at determining the appropriate width of the corridor and establishing characteristic protective groups are proposed to provide references for the overall protection and renewal of industrial heritage along the Taiyuan-Baijiazhuang Railway.
