Influence of environmental concern on public's low-carbon consumption behavior from an externality perspective
The widespread implementation of low-carbon consumption is an important measure to deal with global climate change and achieve the dual carbon goal.Based on the three aspects of approach, environmental concern, awareness of consequences, and policy response to consumption externality, this paper constructs a theoretical model of factors influencing low-carbon consumption behavior.Based on the questionnaire survey data of 803 consumers in Jiangsu Province, this paper uses confirmatory factor analysis and the Bootstrap method to test the hypothesis. The results show that environmental concern not only significantly positively impacts the low-carbon consumption behavior but also can positively influence low-carbon consumption behavior through the mediating effect of outcome consciousness. The policy response to consumption externality plays a positively regulating role in the influence path of"environmental concern-low-carbon consumption behavior".The research results are helpful for revealing the mechanism of the impact of environmental concern on low-carbon consumption behavior, and provide useful enlightenment for relevant departments to design and implement emission reduction policies.
