Digital economy and integrated urban-rural development:Theoretical mechanism and empirical test
Building a new urban-rural relationship and promoting the integrated development of urban and rural areas are the necessary choice and the main path to promote rural revitalization.By constructing an index system for evaluating integrated urban-rural development and digital economy development, based on provincial panel data from 2010 to 2021,this paper investigates the impact and mechanism of digital economy on integrated urban-rural development. It is found that digital economy plays a significant role in promoting integrated urban-rural development, and the conclusion is still valid after a series of robustness tests.Heterogeneity analysis shows that the promotion effect of digital economy on integrated urban-rural development in the eastern region is stronger than that in the western region, but has no promotion effect in the central region.Mechanism analysis shows that rural financial development and fiscal decentralization play an intermediary role in the digital economy affecting integrated urban-rural development. The analysis based on spatial Durbin model shows that digital economy and urban-rural integration both has spatial agglomeration characteristics, and digital economy has spatial spillover effect on integrated urban-rural development.
