Does the development of agricultural industry chain improve agricultural production efficiency?:A perspective from production service
Agricultural production efficiency is related to the stability of national grain output and grain strategic security.Strengthening the ability to ensure the supply of agricultural products is one of the major strategic issues to be solved in the new era.Based on the survey data of rice farmers in Jiangsu Province,this paper comprehensively measured agricultural production efficiency from two aspects of output efficiency and income efficiency based on the translog-stochastic frontier production function model,and investigated the impact of agricultural industry chain services on agricultural production efficiency.The results show that:1)Agricultural production efficiency is relatively high on the whole,the average output efficiency and income efficiency are 0.87 and 0.85 respectively,but there is still a 13％～15％efficiency loss of agricultural production efficiency.2)Agricultural industry chain service has a significant promoting effect on agricultural production efficiency,and its promoting effect on farmers'income efficiency is greater than that on farmers'output efficiency.3)The heterogeneity analysis of farmers'land management scale indicates that agricultural industry chain services have a significant promoting effect on the output efficiency of farmers of different scales,but has a more significant promoting effect on the in-come efficiency of medium and large-scale farmers.4)Compared with the agricultural industry chain services in the mid-production stage,unified procurement in the prenatal stage and processing and sales services in the postnatal stage have greater promoting effects on agricultural production efficiency.
