Spatial-temporal evolutions and coupling coordination of economic efficiency and economic scale at county level in Tibet
The coupling coordination between economic efficiency and economic scale plays a significant role in promoting high-quality economic development in underdeveloped regions.We applied the DEA-MI model,standard deviation ellipse,and coupling coordination model to analyze the spatial-temporal evolution and coupling relationship between economic efficiency and scale in counties of Tibet.The results indicate that:1)In 2018,the county-level economy efficiency and scale in Tibet showed higher in the southeast,and lower in the northwest.The total factor productivity experienced increasing fluctuations,in this process,the technical efficiency and its subdivision of scale efficiency played a driving role,while technical progress played a constraining role.2)Economic efficiency and economic scale exhibited clear patterns of low-level clustering,their standard deviation ellipses distributed in a southeast-northwest direction,and showed a trend towards an east-west orientation,correspondingly,the center moved towards the direction of southeast.3)The coupling coordination level between economic efficiency and economic scale had slightly increased overall,presenting four types:break-in coupling,moderate level coupling,moderate incongruous,and severe incongruous.The number of counties in severe incongruous type showed a downward trend,while the number of counties in types of break-in coupling,moderate level coupling,moderate incongruous showed an upward trend.The mismatch between economic efficiency and economic scale existed in most counties.Over time,the relative advantage of economic efficiency continues to strengthen.The spatial representation of the coupling between economic efficiency and economic scale relies on economic scale as a rigid support,with economic efficiency playing a role of either promoting or constraining.Considering the need for a balance between protecting the highland environment and promoting economic development,it is necessary to prioritize the development of advantaged regions and ensure moderate development in peripheral areas,to achieve a rational developing pattern that the economic efficiency and economic scale experience high-level balanced development in core areas and low-level balanced development in non-core areas.
