Transpiration and water consumption characteristics of Populus alba in desert oasis area
In order to explore the sap flow characteristics of the single tree of Populus alba and estimate the water consumption of P.alba shelterbelt in desert oasis area,in this study, the sap flow of P.alba and environmental factors were monitored, and the forest parameters extracted from the light detection and ranging(LiDAR)point clouds were fitted with the daily transpiration. The results showed that the sap flow speed of the tree increased with the increase of diameter at breast height(DBH),and its diurnal variation was a multimodal curve of"higher in daytime and lower in night".From May to September, the average sap flow speeds were 0.0015~0.0026g·cm-2·s-1.On the diurnal scale, solar radiation was the main factor influencing the sap flow speed of P.alba.On the monthly scale, vapor pressure deficit(VPD)was the main factor influencing the sap flow speed of the tree.Forest parameters can be extracted based on LiDAR point clouds. The DBH,sapwood area and leaf area of forest were well fitted with their daily transpiration(R2>0.950).The water consumption of the shelterbelt from May to September was 967.70~1029.65mm estimated by DBH,sapwood area and leaf area.
