Impact of subjective cognition and life expectations on the willingness of urban village residents to participate in residential environment renovation
Renovation of living environment in urban village is a crucial measure to accelerate urban renewal and promote high-quality urban development.Utilizing 875 survey data from residents of urban villages in Xi'an,Shaanxi, this study examines the effects of subjective perceptions(infrastructure perception, hygiene assurance perception, policy awareness)and life expectations on the willingness of urban village residents to participate in living environment renovations through the Probit model.Hierarchical regression is employed to explore the moderating effect of responsibility awareness on the relationship between subjective perceptions, life expectations, and the willingness to participate in environmental renovation. The results reveal that:1)Both subjective perceptions and life expectations significantly enhance the willingness of urban village residents to participate in living environment renovation.2)Responsibility awareness not only significantly increases their willingness to participate but also plays a significant positive moderating role in the relationship between subjective perceptions, life expectations, and willingness to participation.3)Age,education level, and monthly income significantly enhance the resident's willingness to participate in living environment renovation.4)Direct effects of subjective perceptions, life expectations, responsibility awareness, and the moderating effect of responsibility awareness show significant inter-group differences between native and non-native villagers. Therefore, improving the subjective perceptions and life expectations of urban village residents, and strengthening their sense of responsibility, are of significant importance for promoting residents'participation in the renovation of urban village living environments and advancing high-quality urban development.
