Influence of geographical indication brand participation on ecological breeding behavior
Geographical indication is an effective way to realize the sustainable increase of farmers'income and a modern means to reduce the environmental pollution caused by extensive production.In this paper,a micro-investigation was conducted on the pig farmers who participating in"Bayan Pork"geographical indication,and PSM method and intermediary effect model were used to explore the influence of geographical indication brand participation on ecological breeding behavior and its influence mechanism.The results showed as follows:1)The breeding income,breeding cost and breeding net income of farmers who participated in the geographical indication brands were improved compared with those who did not participate in geographical indication brands,and the incentive effect of geographical indication brands was 9.13%.2)The participation of geographical indication brands has a significant promoting effect on the adoption of ecological farming behaviors by farmers.Among them,the promotion effects of the combination of farming and animal husbandry,waste resource treatment and harmless treatment of sick and dead pigs were 24.7%,26.7%and 20.3%,respectively.3)Geographical indication brands participation can promote farmer's ecological breeding behavior,such as combining farming with animal husbandry,waste resource treatment,and harmless treatment of sick and dead pigs through the two paths of brand income incentive and quality supervision and constraint.Therefore,it is suggested that the geographical indication management department should rationally allocate the proportion of green and coarse feed,carry out training and popularization of ecological breeding technology,improve the net income of products,and encourage farmers to adopt ecological breeding.Government departments should increase the investment to the disposal facilities for waste and sick and dead animals treatments,improve the supervision of breeding,and force farmers to engage in ecological breeding.
