Community structure of benthic organisms in typical rivers of Xi'an and influencing factors
To understand the characteristics of benthic fauna community in typical rivers of Xi'an,the sample waters were collected from 23 sites within the Ba River,Chang River,Black River and Feng River watershed in October 2020(dry season)and June 2021(wet season),respectively, the benthic animal community and physical and chemical properties of the water body were investigated.A total of 105 taxa of bottom dwelling animals are identified, including 4 phyla annelida,Mollusca,Arthropoda and Scallopoda, among which a maximum of 72 arthropoda species are identified. The dominant species are different in different seasons.the dominant groups are Ephemera,Cheumatopsyche and Orthocladius in dry season.Limnodrilus,Baetis and Polypedilum are the dominant groups in the wet season. The Chironomidae is the dominant family both in the dry season and in the wet season. In terms of biomass, biological density and diversity, they appear greater in the dry season than in the dry season in most of the four rivers, and only the Chan River shows an abnormal phenomenon that the biological density in the wet season is greater than in the dry season, which is related to the mass reproduction of waterworm in the wet season. The redundant analysis results show that the environmental factors affecting the benthic community structure are chlorophyll,NH3/N,temperature,total dissolved solids and water velocity. The study indicates that management of typical rivers in Xi'an should focus on reducing ammonia nitrogen pollution and increasing the diversity of channel habitats.
