Spatiotemporal monitoring of urban spatial growth pattern transitions in context of high-quality development:A case study of Taiyuan City
Incremental expansion and stock renewal are the two ways of urban spatial growth.In the context of high-quality development,monitoring the mutual changes between these two processes and analyzing their evolutionary characteristics can provide a basis for cities to formulate reasonable spatial growth strategies.It is of great significance to improve the urban land use efficiency and promote high-quality urban development.In this paper,an accurate monitoring method is proposed for the transition from urban incremental expansion to stock renewal based on the GEE cloud platform,and the Taiyuan City is employed as a case to empirically examine the changing characteristics and interrelationships between urban incremental expansion and stock renewal.The main research findings are as follows:1)The study introduces a method for detecting built-up areas through spectral indices and nighttime light brightness recognition,employing prominent markers like dust nets,bare land,and construction waste to extract stock renewal plots.This approach enables a relatively precise determination of the spatial dimensions of urban incremental expansion and stock renewal.2)The incremental expansion area in Taiyuan City from 2015 to 2021 was 73.78km2,and the stock renewal area was 12.97km2,accounting for 5.21%and 0.92%of the total area of the study area,respectively.In terms of the trend of time changes,the proportion of stock renewal was gradually increasing.3)The number of stock renewal plots in Taiyuan City had been increasing year by year,while the average area was continuously decreasing.This indicates that the stock renewal in Taiyuan City is shifting from extensive demolition and construction to refined adjustment.The paper expands a new perspective and monitoring method for examining urban spatial growth based on the linkage between incremental expansion and stock renewal,which has important academic and practical significance.
