Product quality certification and performance of farmer's adoption of green production technology
Exploring the technology diffusion effect of product quality certification is of great significance for improving the level of green production technology(GPT)adoption by farmers.Based on the micro research data of 1189 kiwifruit farmers in Shaanxi and Sichuan provinces,we empirically examined the impact of product quality certification on the performance of GPT adoption by farmers. The main findings are as follows:After considering the endogeneity problem, product quality certification still plays a significant role in promoting farmer's adoption of GPT.The influencing mechanism is that the product quality certification drives the enhancement of farmer's adoption of GPT level mainly through economic incentives, production regulation and organizational support.Organic certification has the greatest effect on the improvement of farmers'adoption of GPT level, followed by green food certification, and geographical identification certification is the least.Participation in three certifications has a much greater promoting effect on the improvement of farmers'GPT adoption than participation in one and two certifications. There are significant differences in different human capital and social relationship groups.Based on the above findings,it is suggested that the government should provide more policy support and assistance to the bodies responsible for product quality certification, further harnessing the role of product quality certification in incentivizing farmers to adopt GPT.
