Optimization of territorial spatial pattern in the Hohhot-Baotou-Ordos-Wulanchabu integrated development area based on the"production-living-ecology"functions
As the cornerstone supporting social activities, territorial space is undergoing unprecedented changes along with rapid economic growth. Its efficient and sustainable utilization has become an urgent issue. This study paper focuses on the Hohhot-Baotou-Erdos-Wulanchabu integrated region, uses territorial change survey da-ta as the basis, adopts the"Production-Living-Ecology"(PLE)functional framework, and employs tools such as the entropy method, obstacle degree model, and Natural Resources Comprehensive Assessment(NRCA)to comprehensively evaluate the PLE functions of this region.By analyzing spatial characteristics and obstacles and identifying advantageous areas, this paper aims to provide a basis for spatial optimization in this region and similar areas. The findings are as follows:1)The spatial differences in PLE functions in the Hohhot-Baotou-Erdos-Wulanchabu area are significant.Production functions are mainly at a medium level, with high-value areas in the center related to advantages, and low-value areas mostly located at borders or in environmentally problematic areas, spreading outward.Living functions are mainly at low-to-medium levels, with high values discretely located in Hui District, related to convenience;low values are concentrated in some areas of Ulanqab City and Baotou City, related to inadequate infrastructure and services.Ecological functions are mainly at a low level, with high-value areas in the center related to good ecology, and low values mainly distributed in the east, related to unordered development.Comprehensive functions are dominated by higher-value areas, with high-value areas in the center featured with developed industries and convenient transportation, forming a mutually promotional pattern;Low-value areas are located in the eastern part of Ulanqab City, with weak industrial agglomeration and a large gap from core cities.2)Differences in production functions are mainly influ-enced by gross domestic product and total industrial output value.living functions are mainly limited by medical services and population density, and ecological functions are constrained by insufficient areas of nature reserves and park green spaces, which exacerbate ecological fragility and restrict functional improvement.3)Based on spatial balance, six types of functional zones are divided, and targeted optimization strategies are proposed.
