A Study on the Localization of Textbooks for Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language:Implications for the Localization of International Chinese Textbooks
In recent years,how to promote the localization of International Chinese textbooks has become a hot topic.In order to further broaden people's perspective,this study analyzes the localization experience of textbooks for teaching Japanese as a foreign language,intending to provide a reference for the localization of International Chinese textbooks.Specifically,this paper systematically reviews two important measures taken by the Japan Foundation in the process of promoting the Japanese language overseas,which have been implemented since the late 1990s to cope with the diverse teaching and learning situations of various countries and regions.These measures include:(1)the development of digital teaching materials that are compatible with the main textbook;and(2)The establishment of a platform to support local teachers in redeveloping and fully utilizing the textbooks.Finally,this article also explores the inspiration of Japan's"collaborative model of textbook writing end and using end"for the localization of International Chinese textbooks.
