This paper delves into the application of multimodal teaching in Chinese spoken language MOOCs(Massive Open Online Courses)to highlight its significance in educational practice.It begins with an introduction to the fundamental concepts of MOOCs and multimodality,followed by a review of related research developments in Chinese MOOCs.Subsequently,it selects Lesson 15 from the representative Chinese spoken language MOOC"Primary Oral Chinese"for analysis.It analyzes the utilization and coordination of various modalities in the teaching process,encompassing the integrated use of background music,teacher gestures,animation effects,images,and other modalities.The study also explores how these modalities are optimized and combined to enhance the learning experience for students.Additionally,the paper highlights the characteristics of multimodal discourse theory in elementary spoken Chinese MOOCs.Through this research,it hopes to provide novel ideas and methodologies for Chinese spoken language teaching,thereby facilitating learners'oral expression skills and cross-cultural communication abilities.
