The local Chinese language teacher community in Egypt has gradually grown and evolved,becoming a significant driving force behind Chinese language education in the country.This study investigates the current status of local Chinese language teachers in Egypt and analyzes the favorable conditions supporting their development:a longstanding history of Chinese language teaching has resulted in a stable teaching workforce;a cohort of distinguished Sinology experts;overall teacher quality is relatively high and enjoys elevated social standing.Factors supporting the development of local teaching professionals include the positive influence of Sino-Egyptian friendly relations,government emphasis on the growth of Chinese language education,robust support from Confucius Institutes and Chinese institutions,a comprehensive system for bachelor's,master's,and doctoral training,as well as a well-established teacher development mechanism.However,local Chinese language teachers in Egypt encounter challenges such as weaknesses in phonetics,Chinese character knowledge,and second language acquisition;outdated Chinese teaching methodologies;inadequate selection and development of teaching resources;lower job satisfaction for some teachers,leading to occupational burnout;insufficient depth of reflection and limited enthusiasm for pedagogical research.Finally,it proposes targeted strategies from three levels:government,university,and individual.
