Based on the theory of needs analysis,this paper conducts a questionnaire survey and interviews with Sri Lankan police learners and Chinese teachers of the Chinese for police course.By referencing relevant national curriculum standards,language standards,and previous researches on Chinese/English for specific purposes,this paper explores the process of designing the Chinese for police course in Sri Lanka from six aspects:course objectives,course content,teaching methods,textbook development,course evaluation,and course implementation.The aim is to provide a reference for the design of Chinese for Specific Purposes(CSP)courses,particularly for overseas Chinese language courses related to governmental affairs,as well as for the development of related teaching materials.
