China's Reverse Service Outsourcing and the Upgrading of Export Products Quality
Based on CEPⅡ-BACI Database and OECD Input-Output Database from 2000 to 2018,this paper explores the impact and mechanism of China's reverse service outsourcing on the upgrading of export products quality in manufacturing industry. The research shows that reverse service outsourcing has a significant promotion effect on the upgrading of export products quality in manufacturing industry. This conclusion is still robust and reliable after endogenous problem treatment and robustness tests. The mechanism test indicates that reverse service outsourcing can promote the upgrading of export products quality through productivity improvement effect, innovation promotion effect, and import effect of capital goods. The heterogeneity analysis reveals that reverse service outsourcing exerts a greater promotion effect on the industries with higher technology intensity and service penetration rate, and the products with higher differentiation degree and quality gradient. Moreover, service factors from the developed economies have more significant impact on export products quality. The expansion analysis shows that institutional environment plays an important positive moderating role in promoting the upgrading of export products quality through reverse service outsourcing.
