Inclusive Effect of Strategic Cooperation between Small and Medium Banks and Technology Companies——An Empirical Analysis Based on the DID Model with Multiple Time Periods
The persistent issue of addressing the financial constraints faced by small and micro enterprises has long been a topic of common concern.This article focuses on whether the strategic cooperation between small and medium-sized commer-cial banks and technology companies can produce the inclusive effect of alleviating the financial constraints of small and micro enterprises.This study uses the data of 255 banks from 2012 to 2021 to identify the characteristics and trends of strategic cooperation between small and medium banks and technology companies,and deeply analyzes the theoretical mechanism,path and effect of strategic cooperation on the credit supply of small and micro enterprises.It shows that:firstly,more than half of small and me-dium banks have adopted strategic cooperation to promote the digital transformation process,and the strategic cooperation has gradually expanded from single technology cooperation to a mode featuring"technology+capital"cooperation.Secondly,the strategic cooperation can produce the inclusive effect of improving the credit supply scale of small and micro enterprises,and the"technology+capital"cooperation mode produces more obviously inclusive effect than the single technology cooperation mode.Thirdly,the strategic cooperation has stronger inclusive effect on banks with a higher degree of preference for credit rat-ing loans,larger asset scale and located in the eastern region.Fourthly,the improvement of efficiency and risk tolerance are im-portant influencing mechanisms.Fifthly,the data opening of local government helps strengthen the inclusive effect,while there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between the strength of financial regulation and the inclusive effect.The marginal contributions are as follows.Firstly,the cooperation mode is innovatively summarized into single technology cooperation and"technology+capital"cooperation.Secondly,it verifies that the strategic cooperation has inclusive effect,providing a new perspective for inclusive finance.Thirdly,it reveals that the data opening of local government is of great value when using Fintech to empower the small and micro credit market.
