The Impact of Dynamic Adjustment of"Double First-class"Construction on the Quality of College Students
The dynamic adjustment mechanism for the construction of"Double First-class"aims to solve problems such as the solidification of university identity, lack of competition, and decreased motivation.Based on the admission data of the college entrance examination in Henan Province from 2018 to 2022,using the natural experimental opportunities formed by the dynamic adjustment of the"Double First-class"construction list,a two-way fixed effects model is used to analyze the impact of the second round of list announcement on the quality of university student sources.Research has found that the selection of universities in the second round of the list can have a positive impact on the quality of student sources, and this impact has an"identity effect";the selection of disciplines in the second round of the list has to some extent reduced the quality of students in related majors, but has a positive impact on the quality of students in general subject majors within the same university;the public warning mechanism is relatively mild and has not had a significant negative impact on the quality of the students being warned;the impact of the second round of the list has regional heterogeneity, and the construction of"Double First-class"universities and disciplines in the central and western regions has no more obvious changes in student sources than other universities and disciplines in the same region.Based on this,it is believed that the existing dynamic adjustment mechanism is difficult to shake the pyramid shaped pattern of universities.
