The Impact of FTA Transparency Rules on the Stability of Agricultural Exports
With the continuous deepening of free trade agreements,transparency rules have become an indispensable part of them and serve as a panacea for stabilizing ag-ricultural product exports.Using Chinese customs data from 2000 to 2016,this paper ex-amines the impact and mechanisms of FTA transparency rules on the stability of agricultur-al exports.Results show:FTA transparency rules significantly increase the stability of ag-ricultural exports.The results are still significant after a series of robustness checks.Mechanism analysis shows that transparency rules enhance export stability by reducing in-formation costs and aligning standards with partner countries(regions).The rules also en-courage exploratory exports by intensifying competition.Heterogeneity analysis indicates stronger positive effects for regulatory-intensive products,larger firms,and single-product exporters,with transparency rules across various policy areas benefiting agricultural export stability.The research conclusions of this paper provide a reference for China to maintain the stability of agricultural product exports and promote the construction of high-standard free trade areas.
