Simulation Study on Safety Performance of Expressway Combined Bridge Barriers under Impacts
Aimed at the combined bridge barrier design in the rehabilitation of expressway barriers, the nonlinear dynamic FEM analysis models for vehicle-barrier impacts were built, and the impact safety performances of barriers with different horizontal alignments including straight lines and circular curves were simulated. The simulation results show that:1)The steel-concrete combined bridge barrier design for the rehabilitation of expressway barriers could meet the requirements of containment performance and redirective performance for such different vehicles as the 1.5 t car,the 10t bus and the 25 t truck:2)For the safety performance evaluation of the combined bridge barrier, the effects of realistic highway section's different horizontal alignments, such as the straight line, the convex curve and the concave curve,on the vehicle-barrier impact dynamic responses, should be carefully considered;3)The different initial impact positions relative to the barrier railing spans have significant effects on the vehicle-barrier impact dynamic responses, where the case of the impact position at the midspan between 2 adjacent barrier posts usually corresponds to the biggest dynamic responses.
