Workplaces are rife with scenarios that can lead to employee shame.Shame at work-place has become a focus of attention for organizational management researchers. However, there is little literature to date that provides a more systematic overview of the available research findings in this area.In view of this, this study summarizes the connotation and measurement of shame at workplace, triggers and boundary conditions, and consequences and boundary conditions. The review reveals that existing studies have mainly explored direct shame, neglecting to focus on vicarious shame and its triggers and impact outcomes. So this study proposes to extend the conceptual con-tent of shame at workplace, focus on the distinction between direct shame and vicarious shame, and introduce experimental scenarios to capture shame at workplace;explore its triggers and formation mechanisms, emphasize the exploration of vicarious shame triggers and moderators, and develop a comparison of the differences between direct shame and vicarious shame triggers;continue to expand its outcome effects and boundary conditions. We should explore the positive or negative effects of shame at workplace on occupational health and organizational commitment, and compare and analyze whether there are differences between direct shame and vicarious shame in terms of outcome effects;explore the localization of shame at workplace in Chinese culture, and focus on the unique triggers and consequences of shame at workplace in Chinese culture.
