Research on the Influence of Coordinated Development of Two-way FDI on Regional Economic Resilience in China
Building new advantages of a high-level open economy and promoting efficient in-teraction and coordinated development of two-way FDI is an important way to enhance regional eco-nomic resilience in China.Based on the panel data of Chinese 30 provinces and municipalities from 2003 to 2021,this paper empirically analyzes the influence of the coordinated development of two-way FDI on regional economic resilience by using fixed effects, mediating effect and spatial Durbin model. The results show that the coordinated development of two-way FDI significantly promotes the regional economic resilience, the conclusion is still valid after a series of robust tests.Regional eco-nomic resilience is spatially dependent, and the coordinated development of two-way FDI has a pos-itive spillover effect on the improvement of economic resilience in neighboring regions.Mechanism test shows that the coordinated development of two-way FDI can indirectly promotes the regional economic resilience through raising the efficiency of resource allocation and the level of technolog-ical innovation. The promoting effect of the coordinated development of two-way FDI on regional economic resilience was weakened from the eastern region to the western region.Considering the impact of tax, financial crisis and the shock of population structure, the coordinated development of two-way FDI still has a significant promoting effect on regional economic resilience. This paper clar-ifies the influence mechanism of the coordinated development of two-way FDI on regional economic resilience, and provides a broader idea on how to enhance regional economic resilience through two-way FDI policy.
