The modernization of common prosperity for everyone is the essential feature of the Chinese modernization, and it is also the symbol different from western modernization. The unbalanced development of urban and rural areas is the biggest weakness that restricts the common prosperity, and narrowing the income distribution gap is the requirement for achieving common prosperity.Using spatial durbin econometric model, this paper empirically test the impact of private economy on the urban-rural income gap based on provincial panel data. The research shows that the impact of private economy on urban-rural income gap has significant spatial spillover effects and spatial heterogeneity. The convergence effect of private economy on urban-rural income gap has"local neighboring"spatial spillover effect. The development of private economy not only narrows the urban-rural income gap in this region, but also has negative impact on the urban-rural income gap in surrounding areas. The research suggests the govern-ment continues to promote the development and growth of the private economy, guide the private enter-prise to take the path of high-quality development, and undertake the social responsibility of promoting common prosperity.
