International Experience in Promoting the Construction of First-class Disciplines through Digital Transformation of Universities
The digital transformation of universities is becoming an important force to promote the reform of higher education,playing an active role in talent cultivation,scientific research,and social services in universities.In order to learn from the international universities in promoting the construction of first-class disciplines through digital transformation,a case-study theoretical framework has been constructed based on social space theory and core competitiveness theory.This research summarizes the digital transformation cases of five foreign universities,categorizes and explores how various digital transformation measures taken by universitiescan affect different core competitiveness elements of disciplines,thereby promoting the construction of first-class disciplines,including talent cultivation in physical spaces,digital norms in spiritual spaces,and communication and cooperation in social spaces.Finally,the research conclusion that the digital transformation of universities promotes the construction of first-class disciplines is drawn:The core competitiveness elements of disciplines correspond to the educational space,and the core competitiveness elements focused by first-class disciplines belong to different educational spaces that play a role in the digital transformation of universities,and exert their effectiveness.The digital transformation of university promotes the integration and coexistence of disciplinary resources,academic resources and academic abilities,and jointly acts on disciplinary construction.Based on this,the following inspirations are proposed:domestic universities should attach importance to the supporting role of digital transformation in the construction of first-class disciplines,coordinate the development of first-class discipline construction in different educational spaces,and further explore the driving role of first-class disciplines in the digital transformation of universities.
