On Learning from Wei-Jin Poetry:Jin Xueyan's Retro Orientation and Creative Mentality
In the middle of the Ming Dynasty,poetry was dominated by retro creation.The mainstream is to study Tang poetry,however,Jin Xueyan's poems have the characteristics of retro Wei and Jin poetry.In terms of the choice of topics and languages,Jin Xueyan's poems inherit the Xuanyan poems and Youxian poems in Wei-Jin,and were influenced by the Confu-cian,Buddhist and Taoist cultures of the Ming Dynasty.He applied the vocabulary,allusions,and explanatory ideas of Laozi,Zhuangzi,and Buddhist scriptures to his poetry creation,and the content of the poems mostly involved metaphysical principles and immortal cultivation,showing a distinct metaphysical characteristics.In terms of the mentality of creation,the essence of Jin Xueyan's poetry creation on the theme of Xuanyan and Youxian is to identify with the hidden spirit of Wei-Jin.In this way,he expressed his reclusive ideological aspirations,pursued the leisure and freedom of life,and embodied his reclusive aspira-tions.
