Helicobacter pylori(Hp)is a bacterium that colonizes the stomach and is closely related to the occurrence and development of gastritis, peptic ulcer, gastric cancer, and some extragastric diseases.According to statistics, nearly half of the world's population are infected with helicobacter pylori.Currently,China recommends using one PPI,two antibiotics, and bismuth as the first line medication to eradicate helicobacter pylori. However, due to the abuse of antibiotics leading to drug resistance, poor patient compliance, long treatment cycles, and susceptibility to recurrent infections, the eradication rate of helicobacter pylori is gradually decreasing. Therefore,it is particularly important to improve the eradication rate of Hp in the current treatment. The main function of vitamin D is to regulate the metabolism of calcium and phosphorus to maintain healthy bones in the human body.Numerous evidence suggests that it also plays an important role in protecting human hosts from bacterial and viral invasion.Antibacterial mechanisms include the production of cytokines, antibacterial proteins, and pattern recognition receptors. In recent years, studies have suggested that vitamin D can also play an important role in the eradication of helicobacter pylori. This article reviews the impact of vitamin D on helicobacter pylori infection and eradication.
