Autophagy is a dynamic process in which damaged macromolecules and organelles within cells are degraded and recycled to synthesize new cellular components. The autophagy homeostasis of the kidney is essential to maintain the normal function of the kidney.Chronic kidney disease is an important disease that endangers human health.A large number of studies have found that when podocyte autophagy is malregulated, renal fibrosis will occur, leading to the occurrence and development of chronic kidney disease.Maintaining podocyte autophagy homeostasis can reduce the degree of renal fibrosis in chronic kidney disease and delay the progression of renal failure.Podocyte autophagy related genes, transcription factors and proteins are involved in podocyte autophagy regulation.Therefore,in-depth study of podocyte autophagy targets and regulatory mechanisms has far-reaching significance for the diagnosis and treatment of chronic kidney disease.
