Osteoarthritis(OA)is an age-associated chronic degenerative joint disease with significant clinical hazard.Endoplasmic reticulum stress(ERS)is a protective stress response initiated by the body when there is an excessive accumulation of large amounts of misfolded or unfolded proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum.A growing number of studies confirm that ERS plays an important role in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis, but the exact mechanism remains unclear. This article reviews the association between ERS and OA and its research progress, with a view to providing a research basis for the treatment of OA.
