Recent Advances in Preparation and Application of Zero-Valent Iron Materials for Heavy Metal Remediation in Water Treatment
The efficient treatment of heavy metal wastewater is an important guarantee for ecological security and human health.Zero-valent iron(ZVI)is considered as a potential material for wastewater treatment due to its high reactivity,eco-friendly and high efficiency, especially for heavy metals. The current researches of the removal of heavy metals from wastewater by ZVI are reviewed in this paper. The removal principles and influencing factors of heavy metals by ZVI are summarized,as well as the preparation methods of several kinds of ZVI materials, and the reaction removal mechanisms of several typical heavy metals by ZVI are also analyzed. The results show that the effects of reduction, adsorption, electrostatic attraction and coordination complex are contributed to the removal of heavy metals by ZVI,and the environmental factors including solution pH,reaction time, reagent dosage, temperature and coexisting ions have great influence on the removal performance of ZVI.The development prospects of ZVI in removing heavy metals from wastewater are also prospected.
